Zecaj Emina

Traditional Bosnian Songs

Making a selection of Emina Zečaj s and Mehmed Gribajčević s recordings produced during the summer 2002 wasn t an easy task. The production of this material was motivated by the need to preserve the repertoire as well as its interpretation, which is, in Emina Zečaj s case, a quite unique aesthetic experience.

On the technical side, the idea was to have the recordings document the authenticity of the original. Recording this duo in mono, with minimal producing interventions became a production on its own. Our wish was to make Emina s songs sound as if you were listening to them live in your room: this non-mediated beauty offers a new experience that we have almost forgotten.
